In the process of using tags to create folder names to reorganize media files, I have run into the problem where characters that are legitimate in the tags are not allowed by Windows File Explorer. For instance the / character or the : character. It would be ideal if there was the ability to define translations of ASCII characters that should be used in file or folder naming. Something like the following:
0D0A=
19=
22=27
23=
25=
26=616E64
2A=2D
2B=616E64
2C=
2E2E2E=20
2F=2D
3A=2D
3C=2D
3E=2D
3F=
5C=2D
7C=2D
These are the two-digit Ascii character codes, so multiple characters can be mapped. Essentially, the pattern on the left gets replaced by the pattern on the right when folders are created.

Re: Request: Add a file name mapping modifier
This was the original intention of the Find Replace plugin as it was supposed to be a Modifier as opposed to a Method. I'm not really sure why I changed it at the last minute, to be honest.
I'll add a new Find Replace Modifier plugin for FileSieve 4.09 which should do what you require.
Added a task on Tracker.BootBlock.co.uk for status information.
